To date, there is no order of osteopaths in Quebec. The CPOQ is an association of trained osteopaths (see section: Training required to be an osteopath) and measures have been taken to fulfill our mission to inform and protect the public. Indeed, the members of the QCPO must comply to our code of ethics. A committee of trustees has been created to protect the public, and osteopathic members of the CPOQ must complete 60 hours of continuous training every 3 years.

In 2014, the Office des Professions du Québec (OPQ) began the process of creating a professional order for osteopaths in Quebec. The work is still in progress.

In the fall of 2017, the osteopathic community was consulted following the publication of a document drafted by the working group set up for the creation of the Quebec Professional Order of Osteopaths. We are waiting to see how things develop, particularly in terms of the training program required to obtain the D.O. (Osteopathic Diploma) in the future and the recommendations provided by the OPQ. We will keep you informed regarding the official decisions of the government.
